DANCE AND MUSIC

JSS Public School believes in cultivating and developing creativity and life skills in the children.

Dance embodies one of our most primal relationships to the universe. It is pre-verbal, beginning before words can be formed. It is innate in children before they possess command over language and is evoked when thoughts or emotions are too powerful for words to contain.

Children move naturally. They move to achieve mobility, they move to express a thought or feeling, and they move because it is joyful and feels wonderful. When their movement becomes consciously structured and is performed with awareness for its own sake, it becomes dance.

Dance is a natural method for learning and a basic form of cultural expression. Children learn movement patterns as readily as they learn language. Just as all societies create forms of visual representation or organize sounds into music, all cultures organize movement and rhythm into one or more forms of dance. Thus JSS attempts to enhance a child's self esteem with dancing in a classroom setting, by having children placed by age and skill level. In addition to self-esteem, dance can reinforce a sense of pride. Children learn the skills of team work, leadership, communication, by organization of intra school and inter school competitions and programmes, and the discipline of repetitive drill and practice required to perfect an art.

MUSIC

Children have a natural love for music. They love a good tune with an energetic beat. It’s amazing what music can do for a kid. As a powerful stimulant, music can alter your child’s mood instantly and create new bonds and memories. Increasingly enough, more attention is being drawn to the role of music in society and how it influences our children music is enjoyable and fun, but extensive research has shown lately that exposing children to music stimulates their overall intelligence and emotional development. Having children listen to different types of music also nurtures their self-esteem while encouraging creativity, self-confidence and curiosity. Many researchers believe that the earlier a child is exposed to music, the more the brain responds to different music tones. At JSS music is taught to all children from class I to Class X. Thus it gives every child a chance to enhance their imagination, inner sense of creativity and self-expression.
