Google Code to Learn Contest

Google India announced “Code to Learn Contest” to build a stronger foundation for computer science in India. The Scratch software and training materials were provided to the students. Students from class 4th to 8th participated in the competition. It took place in two levels. First level was a screening test (theory part) and the second level was to submit a project on Scratch Programming language. Many students submitted their project on time.

Students were encouraged to learn and develop their projects during assembly period, break period and also after school hours. Many students actively participated in the competition. Computer Faculties M S Gayathri, Sujatha and Yogesh gave training to the students. More than 100 students took the 1st level of screening test. And 92 of them cleared the 1st level and got the “Certificate of Achievement” from Google.

Parents supported their ward by collecting the supporting software given by the Google from the school and thereby helping them to complete the project from home.

Scouts and Guides Camp

JSSPS HSR organised a one day outing for Scouts & Guides on 11/11/2017 to Ragigudda Anjaneya Temple located in Jayanagar 9th Block suburb of Bengaluru. The outing was extremely beneficial for the students as there was an overall development. Self-reflection, invigorating sights and challenging oneself in nature provided both physical and mental benefits. The Scouts and Guides along with the Scout Master Mr. Ashok and Guide Captains Mrs. Shashikala and Mrs. Reshima made the outing successful and informative.

Children’s Day


JSSPS HSR layout celebrated Children’s Day with great fun and enthusiasm. The programme started with the prayer song sung by students, and lighting of the lamp by The Principal. Parents also actively participated in the celebration to cheer up their kids with a group song. This was followed by the group song and dance performed by teachers and students. The Principal Mrs. Geetika Kharola offered her blessings to the children through her short speech. The programme ended with National Anthem.

Swamiji Jayanthi Celebration 2017

JSSPS HSR celebrated His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivaratri Rajendra Mahaswamiji’s 102th year of Jayanthi on 17-10-2017. His Holiness Sri Chidghana Swamiji of Ganjam Mutt presided over the function. The Principal, Teaching & Non-teaching staff, students, parents offered hearty welcome to Sri Chidghana Swamiji with great enthusiasm and devotion.

The program commenced with a prayer by the 5th B students followed by the invocation song sung by 5th B students and Ms. Hemavathi (Music Teacher). Welcome speech was given by Sathvik of class 10th A. His Holiness Sri Chidghana Swamiji along with the Principal Mrs. Geethika Kharola lightened the lamp giving way to start off the day’s celebration. The portrait of Jagadguru Sri Shivaratri Rajendra Mahaswamiji was unfurled and flowers were showered. Vachanas depicting the importance of Guru/Teacher was also melodically sung by students.

His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivaratri Rajendra Mahaswamiji’s work towards initiative of spreading Indian Spirituality & Culture in western countries was explained through various life episodes by Sri L. Mahesh HOD, Kannada Department. Group Dance on the song ‘Sathyam Shivam Sundaram’ highlighted the ambience to the celebration. A devotional song ‘Yara Mahime Jyothi Jagavanu’ was beautifully rendered by the parents. Essay competition and Swamiji’s portrait painting competition was conducted for higher class students for which prizes were distributed to the winners.

Honouring of Chief Guest and the Principal added feather to the program. Address by the Principal and Blessing from His Holiness Sri Chidghana Swamiji brought a devotional environment to the event. Vote of thanks was given by Likitha of 10th B. The program ended with the National Anthem.

Incredible India

JSSPS HSR showcased the rich cultural heritage of India through ‘Incredible India’ program. The event took place in four days depicting the custom, tradition, dress forms of North, South, East and Western states. Both students and teachers actively and enthusiastically participated in the event making it a huge success. They came in colorful traditional costumes depicting different states of India. An inspiring speech was given by the Principal Mrs. Geethika Kharola on the ‘Pariyatan Parv’ and also the ‘Unity in Diversity’ of our great nation.

Jagadguru Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji on 27th July 2016

JSS Public School , HSR Layout celebrated the birth centenary of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji on 27th July 2016.The programme began with the arrival of His Holiness Sri Sri Mummadi Nirvanamahaswamigalu,(President Sukshetra Sri Degulamath, Kanakpura) , chief guest Sri Hi. Chi. Shanthaveeraiah and former Principal Mr. R U Patil. The dignitaries were welcomed by Vice Principal Mrs Alice Varghese.

The programme started with lighting of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries followed by the distribution of prizes and cultural performances by the students. A drama ‘ Divya Chetna’ was presented by JSS Kalamantapa Mysore on the life, achievements and contribution of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji towards the society.
